Randy Wells, Andrew Cashner Headed to DL
By Brad Stewart on April 6, 2011 at 11:19 am in Cubs, FeaturedThe back end of the rotation is headed to disabled list. Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner will both miss at least two weeks on the DL.
Wells will hit the DL with a right forearm strain and Cashner has a mild strain in his rotator cuff. He left Tuesday’s start against the Diamondbacks with stiffness in his right shoulder.
In his first major league start, Cashner lasted 5 1/3 innings and threw 72 pitches before being taken out. Wells pitched Monday, allowing one earned run in six innings. He didn’t appear to be injured when he left the game.
Casey Coleman will be recalled from Triple-A Iowa to start on Sunday and reliever James Russell may start Tuesday in the 5th rotation spot.
